A Note from Mary Nichols (a.k.a. DJ Fusion):
Welcome and Thanks to all of the great supporters of the syndicated FuseBox Radio Broadcast and BlackRadioIsBack.com throughout the years! :)

This is the latest episode of the syndicated FuseBox Radio Broadcast with DJ Fusion & Jon Judah for the week of April 1, 2009 with some new and classic Hip-Hop & Soul Music, news and commentary.
This week's commentary focused on some recent mainstream news stories. including the G-20 Economic Summit happening in London (and the related comments by Brazil's President about the worldwide economic crisis being caused by "white people with blue eyes") and some other things here and there.
This week we have a great interview with independent Hip-Hop Music Artist Slick The Misfit (http://www.myspace.com/slickthemisfit), where we takled about everything from his' life & background, the importance of continuing a strong Hip-Hop tradition especially being from NYC, his influences in life and music, the music industry in general, his upcoming mixtape project & shows and many other things in the mix!
Due to our interview, we did not have new DirectEFX or Black Agenda Report segments this week.
Feel free to check out some recent episodes of the syndicated FuseBox Radio Broadcast on BlackRadioIsBack.com - all of the shows are clean/radio friendly.

| Recent FuseBox Radio & BlackRadioIsBack.com Mixtapes |
|

Just wanted to share the latest mixtape from the FuseBox Radio Broadcast & BlackRadioIsBack.com camp with everyone for you to just give a listen to, share, promote, broadcast, blog about, etc.
We've had the great opportunity to work with one of the great new R&B music artists over at Slip-N-Slide Records & Slick Salt Entertainment with Shonie.
The lady is the REAL DEAL all around with her songwriting and vocals (she just received a distribution deal with Def Jam Records this week for her upcoming album release, so there are plenty of folks who know it's not a game) and is going to be one of the folks to look out for in 2009, in my personal opinion.
Here's some brief biographical information on Shonie:
Newcomer R&B singer Shonie, born in New York but raised in Miami, is a 19-year old female singer and songwriter reminiscent of an early Mary J. Blige who brings a refreshing youthful sound to the R&B genre. Her lyrics represent the streets of New York and the ongoing struggles of being a young woman in today's world. Shonie to date has worked with the likes of Hip-Hop superstar Trina, Flo Rida, Trick Daddy, Cool & Dre and more.

Her current single out titled "Can't Let Go" (download the single here) which features Fabolous is quickly being added to key taste-making Urban Radio Stations.
Her influences include Beyonce, Aaliyah and Betty Wright. Expect her debut album "Passionate Pieces of Me" to be released this spring 2009.
Shonie is open for interviews, drops, etc., so definitely reach out to Henry "JackLe" Cedeño of Slip-N-Slide Records at mp3jackle@gmail.com or James Damus at pr@slipnsliderecords.net for more information on how to line that up.
Here is the mixtape - "Slip-N-Slide Records & Slick Salt Ent. Presents: Shonie, The R&B Princess - The A&R's Cheat Sheet: R&B Edition Vol. 1" - that's Hosted & Mixed by yours truly, DJ Fusion of the FuseBox Radio & BlackRadioIsBack.com - with the zip file that includes the tracks, both of the mixtape covers & the tracklisting.
We also included a podcast ready/mp3 player ready link of one big mp3 file for folks to preview the mixtape and to use whatever way they wish as well.
This mixtape will be available all over the streets and the major internet mixtape downloading sites & music blogs this month, so definitely be on the lookout!
Please feel free to blast it off all over the world - hope you enjoy this piece of work! Peace! :)

Some FuseBox Radio/BlackRadioIsBack.com Approved Music to Check Out, Download, Put In Your Mix & Whatnot...
|
What's good Fam!
This is the 2nd week we're going to include some dope music I'm personally feeling & selecting for folks to download & check out that we've either played on the syndicated FuseBox Radio Broadcast and/or just haven't had a chance to get into the radio show mix yet (or will soon be on some future mixtapes and website postings on BlackRadioIsBack.com).
This is pretty much for me just another way (that's also kind of fun, really - can't play EVERYONE weekly unfortunately) to try to give artists proper shine to for contributing to making quality Black Music.
These folks are from all over the place - from working on the independent grind to major label music artists - that are FuseBox Radio Broadcast & BlackRadioIsBack.com approved (no B.S. audio, we think), so hopefully, you'll enjoy some of it!
This week's post is more leaning on the independent Hip-Hop & Soul Music end with a little bit of Rock Music in the mix - the music selections will get more diverse and lengthy as time goes by (making these e-mails nice looking w/ the graphics and whatnot takes up crazy time when doing solo), so stay on the lookout!
Hopefully, you can put these in the mix on your radio show, mixtapes, podcast, websites or just have something new to bump in the ol' mp3 player and whantot....

2. Call GRACE AARON at 510.849.2590 to seek clarity about this issue.
3. Join the new rally to Save WBAI Radio! Convene Saturday, April 4 at 11:00 am. Rally begins at 12 noon. Gather at these corners: Leonard Street, Franklin Street, White Street (all between Broadway and Lafatyeete). For more info, go to the organizers' website: www.unitedforpeaceandjustice.org. Or call 212.868.5545.
More about WBAI Radio (from the official website, www.wbai.org) The Pacifica Foundation was launched by pacifist Lew Hill in 1949 with the first ever listener funded radio station - KPFA, Berkeley. The Pacifica Mission called for radio that would foster understanding amongst nations and individuals, encourage creativity, and promote innovative, uncensored distribution of news.
In 1960, WBAI 99.5 FM in New York joined Pacifica when philanthropist Louis Schweitzer gave the station to the network, which now has 5 radio stations (the other four are in Berkeley, Los Angeles, Houston, and Washington, DC) and more than 50 affiliate stations across the U.S.
The Pacifica Foundation is a California non-profit corporation. Its governance procedures are laid out in its bylaws and Articles of Incorporation (which includes the Mission Statement). The board of directors, referred to as the national board, has fiduciary responsibility over the network. On and off over the years, there have also been local station boards with varying degrees of responsibility that were to work with the national board.
In December 2001 a settlement agreement was reached with regard to several lawsuits that had been brought against the then Pacifica National Board. The suits were filed by Pacifica listeners, various Local Advisory Board members, and several National board members charging the board with taking Pacifica away from its mission and other illegal activities destructive to the network.
The settlement mandated that an interim Pacifica National Board composed of people from both sides of the conflict revise Pacifica's bylaws. The new Pacifica bylaws were required to establish membership status for listener-sponsors and station staff along with a process for network-wide elections of somewhat empowered Local Station Boards in the 5 listening areas. After an extended period of discussion, debate and drafting, the new bylaws were adopted in September 2003. The first elections for Local Station Boards under these bylaws were held in January-February 2004. | | | | Only registered users can write comments. Please login or register.
