Bun B’s Trill Burgers Opens in Houston

Legendary Houston hip-hop recording artist, Bun B, purveyor of Trill Burgers appeared on ABC last year to represent the culinary treat. It was crowned Good Morning America’s Best Burger in the United States last summer after a competition on live TV. Now, he has opened up Trill Burgers’ first brick-and-mortar location on June 7 in his hometown of Houston.

The restaurant is located in Montrose at 3607 S Shepherd Dr. at Richmond Avenue. The 3,236-square-foot Trill Burgers will be there as an extended pop-up location for the next six months while a search for a permanent home ensues. People who want to enjoy the burgers can visit the location daily from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., with additional hours to be announced.

“It’s been a dream for us, and it’s actually coming true,” Bun B said in an Instagram post. “It’s been our sole goal to open up an establishment where we can serve you guys Trill Burgers consistently at a high level on a daily basis. And now we’re ready to do it. We are now officially open for business, ready to serve you.”

The eatery’s menu will have the same signature items that have been presented at various pop-up locations and events since the UGK (UnderGround Kingz) rapper introduced the concept in 2021.

  • The OG Burger with two smashed all-beef patties, Trill Sauce, pickles, caramelized onions and American cheese on a potato roll bun;
  • Vegan OG Burger with vegan cheese and vegan mayonnaise; and seasoned fries.
  • The new location also will offer triple and single-patty options: the Triple OG, Triple Vegan OG, and Baby G and Vegan Baby G kids meals.
  • Additional items on the menu will be introduced by chef partners Mike Pham and Fernando Valladares

Houston Press reported that some patrons waited in lines for an hour to get a taste of the burgers. Bun B stated that since this is the opening, they are looking for ways to make things better for the customers.

“We’re always working towards improving the process,” says Bun B. “As we become more available, and more people become aware of who we are there will always be more things to navigate. Today is the first day testing the system inside as well as the flow of traffic and so far, so good. We are running out of parking, so we need to get the drive through up and running to accommodate more people, but the response is a blessing. We’re really excited to present this burger to Houston.”

Unfortunately, Trill Burgers can only be bought at the current pop-up location. The brick-and-mortar location is presently only taking credit and charge cards (or related apps that have access to either) as it’s cashless and only offers dine-in and walk-up orders right now. The restaurant can seat 125 guests while a drive-thru service will be opening soon. You can’t even order online or via telephone and Trill Burgers is not affiliated with any third-party delivery services or apps.
