The WNBA season is about to start this upcoming weekend and it gets a kickoff from Coi Leray with the start of promotion and word from the rapper.

With the season fastly approaching and the return of Brittney Griner, this season looks to be an exciting one as the WNBA drops the promo featuring narration by Leray. The background music that is blaring from the speakers is from the New Jersey native’s hit song, “Players.”

We are viewing the skills and play of last season’s Most Valuable Player, A’ja Wilson of the Las Vegas Aces. The team also won the 2022 WNBA championship. The video is also showing other players during league play shooting and hooping throughout the clip. Leray is also speaking about what’s coming up for the summer.

“Yeah, this league is a sisterhood. It’s way more than just a game; it’s an empire. A fearless empire. More side-swiping steals? Check. We got hoops, drive, and passion; easy. More buckets, extra sauce? Order up. More dimension-defying dimes, more dancing than a Saturday night. Now this is what I call primetime! You see that?”

The WNBA announced that the 2023 season tip-off will commence on Friday, May 19th, when there will be four games played.

The Connecticut Suns will play against the Indiana Fever in Indianapolis at 7 and at the same time, The New York Liberty challenge the Washington Mystics in D.C. At 8 p.m., the Chicago Sky take on the Minnesota Lynx, and later at 11, the Phoenix Mercury travel to California to play the Los Angeles Sparks. All times Eastern Standard Time.

All eyes will be on the late game as Griner marks her return to professional play after being imprisoned in Russia last year before being released in a prisoner exchange.
