Comedy Central Presents James Davis: Live From The Town

Comedy Central announced the details of the 360 content universe surrounding the previously announced one-hour stand-up special James Davis: Live From The Town, which premieres January 11 at 11:00 p.m. ET/PT as part of Stand-Up Month on Comedy Central. The special is accompanied by a digital album and exclusive linear and digital companion content custom tailored for James Davis: Live From The Town.

The album will be released on all digital retailers and streaming services on the day that the special premieres, January 11, and Davis will appear on Comedy Central’s Friday-night interstitial series Stupid Questions with Chris Distefano, which guides viewers through the night’s programming, the same evening.

Leading up to the on-air premiere, CC Stand-Up social accounts and the recently launched Comedy Central Stand-Up YouTube channel will debut original, exclusive companion content based on Live From The Town and recorded in-studio with Davis, along with preview clips from the special itself.

On January 12, the full special will be available to stream in the CC App, on and On Demand, and available for digital download on platforms including iTunes, Prime Video, Microsoft Movies & TV, Google Play, Vudu and Verizon Fios On Demand. Fans on Twitter can follow Davis at @theejamesdavis and CC Stand-Up at @standup to join the social conversation around the special.

James Davis: Live From The Town is a raucous hour of comedy that puts Davis’s second-to-none stage presence and crowd engagement on full display. With a captivating delivery that keeps his audience hanging on his every word, Davis shows incredible range, including an impression of Barack Obama as a party DJ; the invention of Barbecue Davis, his professional golf alter-ego; dissections of social topics from #MeToo to police violence; and hilarious commentary on everything from “pimp uncles” to getting his car keyed. James Davis: Live From The Town was filmed at New Parish Theatre in Oakland, CA.

Davis, Alex Murray, Shawna Wexler, Jon Liebman, and John Irwin are Executive Producers. Anne Harris, Ryan Moran, and Jackie Sosa are the Executives in Charge of Production for Comedy Central.

James Davis is a writer and standup comedian based in Los Angeles. He has written on The Late Late Show with James Corden and appeared as a regular roundtable guest on Chelsea Lately. Davis also created and starred in the Comedy Central series Hood Adjacent with James Davis, which garnered acclaim in The New York Times, The Los Angeles Times, Vanity Fair, GQ, The New Yorker and many others. Davis has served as the host of the Facebook show Do or Dare, in which he led celebrities through wacky competitions for a chance to win cash prizes for a charity of their choice, and will host Netflix’s first game show, Awake, which will air on the streaming service in 2019.
