Harlem Haberdashery is Making PPE Masks and Gowns for Hospital Workers

Harlem Haberdashery, the award-winning, bespoke boutique and their parent company, 5001 FLAVORS, the “best-kept secret” of award-winning fashion stylists, film, music video and television industries, and celebrities for their custom clothing have closed their doors temporarily due to Covid-19 but they didn’t close their hearts and minds.

Sharene Wood, President, and CEO received design inquiries from private citizens to design and manufacture medical grade gowns and masks – but how with their Bronx, NY design studio closed? Through fashion networks, Sharene connected with Brenda Polanco of The.Dott NYC who has access to medical-grade materials and works with various manufacturing facilities.

Starting this week Harlem Haberdashery, 5001 FLAVORS and #TakeCareOfHarlem, the philanthropic arm of Harlem Haberdashery, and  The .Dott NYC will produce PPE spunbound non-woven polypropylene (medical grade) masks and gowns to donate to several New York City Hospitals including long time community partner NYC Health & Hospitals/Harlem (aka Harlem Hospital Center.)

“The entire Harlem Haberdashery family is committed to always using fashion and philanthropy to help change the world and fight against this life-changing pandemic. We will use our fashion background and contacts to help make the world safer instead of just fashionable for now” says Guy Wood, Creative Director of 5001 FLAVORS and Harlem Haberdashery.

“We had the offices and workrooms professionally decontaminated. We will be providing all workers with gloves, masks and disposable gowns, as well as all essential cleaning products necessary to ensure a clean and safe work environment,” Brenda Polanco, Owner, The.Dott NYC

For any private citizens or companies that want to donate funds for Harlem Haberdashery in conjunction with The.Dott NYC to make medical-grade gowns and masks for your hospitals or medical facility, please email Harlem Haberdashery at [email protected] .
