Do You Want to See a Movie for $4? Sunday, August 27 is National Cinema Day

If you have no plans this weekend and want to see a movie, it’s a good idea to wait until Sunday.

According to The Associated Press, there will be another National Cinema Day taking place this Sunday, Aug. 27. What does that mean? This means you can purchase a movie ticket for the amazingly low price of just $4. But, make sure you go to a participating theater to get your hands on that enormously discounted ticket.

Earlier this week, theater owners announced that the second annual National Cinema Day will allow moviegoers to see all current movies on Sunday to see movies that are currently playing now. There are more than 3,000 theaters that will be participating in this promotion. This program is being done by the non-profit organization, The Cinema Foundation. The initiative is being supported by the major movie theater chains.

This is the second year this is being done. Variety reported that last year’s National Cinema Day took place on Sept. 3, 2022. With ticket prices at $3, there were an estimated 8.1 million moviegoers who took advantage of the price point. That day turned out to be the highest-attended day of 2022, according to the National Association of Theater Owners.

“Following the rousing success of the first annual National Cinema Day, we welcome everyone to join us for the communal experience of one of America’s favorite pasttimes — moviegoing,” said Jackie Brenneman, president of the Cinema Foundation. “We look forward to gathering at the movies and celebrating an exciting slate of new releases and classics, from beloved family favorites and outrageous comedies to thought-provoking dramas and thrilling adventures. There’s something for everyone.”

If you haven’t seen the blockbuster hit, “Barbie” or any other current movies like “Oppenheimer,” “Blue Beetle” or if you want to see new movies being released this weekend like “Gran Turismo,” “Golda,” “Bottoms” and “Retribution,” Sunday will be the ideal time to go see these movies for only $4 a ticket!
