Today, Grammy®-nominated artist and producer Terrace Martin shares his interpolation of “Snooze,” his own slinky take on SZA’s hit song that will serve as the lead single for his upcoming album Fine Tune, set to be released in June. While his saxophone stays true to the song’s original, intoxicating melody, the surrounding instrumentation adds a new dimension of romanticism only accessible by Martin. A lush daydream of a track, the unspoken lyrics of “Snooze” resonate in the saxophone’s boisterous demeanor, moving at its own sultry pace. Martin has announced a new label partnership with BMG for Sounds of Crenshaw on a series of jazz releases focused on developing new talent and incorporating the legacy of jazz, curated and executive produced by Martin. Fine Tune marks the beginning of this alliance, only a precursor to the magic the two have in store. Martin began his partnership with BMG on the release of 2021’s DRONES, which was Grammy-nominated for Best Progressive R&B Album and features acts such as Snoop Dogg, Kendrick Lamar, Ty Dolla $ign, YG, Cordae, Robert Glasper, Leon Bridges, James Fauntleroy and more.

Martin has been a guiding force in contemporary music for more than a decade. Beginning at a young age, Martin was an exceptional instrumentalist; from the drums, to piano, to the saxophone, Martin’s talents have known no bounds. Naturally, his skills took him to Hollywood where he made his big break producing for Power 106 Radio. This rush of success prompted Martin to create his debut album Signal Flow in 2011. Since his first record, Martin has collaborated with artists like Snoop Dogg, Kendrick Lamar, Kurupt, Wiz Khalifa, Too $hort, Ty Dolla $ign, Ab-Soul, The Game, Travis Scott, Busta Rhymes, Stevie Wonder and more. Martin’s discography consists of over 10 complete records, not including pieces he contributed, produced, or featured on. One of Martin’s most successful feats was collaborating with Kendrick Lamar early on in Section.80 and then in both Grammy-nominated albums good kid, m.A.A.d city and To Pimp a Butterfly.
