Company: Fairweather Faces, Inc.
Location: New York, NY
Before Andrea Fairweather made her mark helping network news anchors and stars of film, television and the music world put their best face forward, she was an actress, dancer and choreographer testing out make-up techniques on herself. She was determined to present a signature, fresh face during business meetings, auditions, performances and media interviews.
Others quickly took notice of this Brooklyn, New York native’s knack for “making a face,” and began asking Andrea to work her sweet wonders on them. They appreciated her gift for seeing each face as a unique canvass, drawing out its particular elegance and character. “My goal is not to restructure the face but enhance the beauty that’s already there,” says Andrea, who obtained her certificate for make-up application from Il Makiage and her nail technology license from Christine Valmy.
Andrea’s skills are tested and proven. In 1990, Estee Lauder hired Andrea as a make-up specialist, a position that built upon her talents for creating looks for a wide variety of faces and personas.
In 1992, Clinique snapped Andrea up. In 1995, she single-handedly drafted and launched for Clinique its strategic position of The Color Coach, a troubleshooter and trainer of other make-up artists. The Color Coach initiative greatly increased company sales, and Color Coaches remain a part of Clinique’s international business model.
As a make-up artist, she has collaborated on shoots with Celebrity Photographer James Kriegsman. She was signed on as beauty consultant and nail technician for Irma Denson, working closely what that highly acclaimed specialist in skin care and maintaining many of Denson’s clients. Andrea has been a freelance make-up artist at Saks Fifth Avenue, Bloomingdales and, while at Bendels, for the highly regarded Bobbi Brown Cosmetics, N.Y.C.
Andrea christened her own beauty/grooming service in 1997, appropriately naming it Fairweather Faces. Inc.
