According to an interview with GQ magazine, Shawn “Jay-Z” Carter donated the fee he earned on his collaboration with Ermias Joseph Asghedom, also known as Nipsey Hussle to Hussle’s estate and the Hampton House.

The collaboration is a song titled, “What It Feels Like” that appears on the soundtrack for the recently released Judas and the Black Messiah movie.

“My relationship with Ryan, who I consider my little bro, [is what] brought me to the movie,” Jay-Z told GQ. “And once I saw it, I was blown away by what Shaka King brought to the table. I think I finished the song in the next day or two.”

“Like Chairman Fred Hampton said ‘You can kill a revolutionary but you can’t kill the revolution.’ Every time you take one of our loved ones, their spirit and soul and ideas inhabit millions.’”

The 33-year-old Hussle was killed in front of his Marathon Clothing store, located in the Hyde Park neighborhood of Los Angeles. A petition was started to rename the intersection of Slauson Avenue and Crenshaw Boulevard near Hussle’s store, Marathon Clothing, to “Nipsey Hussle Square.” On the day of his funeral, the City Council announced it was set to be renamed Ermias “Nipsey Hussle” Asghedom Square to honor him and his contributions to the neighborhood.

There’s an ongoing GoFundMe campaign that was launched to save The Hampton House.

“The primary focus of the 501(c)3 organization, Save the Hampton House, Inc., is to preserve, protect, and rehabilitate the childhood home of Black Panther Party Chairman Fred Hampton. We are seeking landmark status for the home and plan to establish it as a museum. We are also facilitating educational services, community gardens, and a meeting place for community development.”
